4Unique and Modern  Apr 14, 2005
By D. Hoskins "bluestocking"
I don't know who writes the descriptions, but this perfume is definitely not sweet. If you find yourself drawn to fragrance notes commonly found in men's cologne you will love this fragrance. It is unique in that it is feminine but with a strong woodsy (I think it is oak or cedar) tone to it. It isn't heavy though, in fact it is very light, very clean, subtly floral, subtly spicy and oaky. All in all, a modern and unique fragrance.

5Works for me!  Mar 02, 2006
By A. Van "russilovncutie"
This is a day-time fragrance that I can't live without. I'm the type of person who doesn't like things smelling too florally or girly-girl (e.g Paris Hilton or Maria Sharpova fragrances, which don't suit me at all). At the same time, I don't want something that's too " mature" and leaving me smelling like an old lady (too strong and musky). Eau Des Merveilles is somewhat of an in-between fragrance that's hard to describe and very unusual. It's woodsy but it has amber, pepper, and citris notes. It's refreshing, modern, and chic.

You don't need to overspay this stuff either. It's potent and you'll probably be mistaken for wearing cologne if you overkill it.

People like how I smell with this fragrance, and some even say that I smell like "clean laundry," which is a good thing (for me atleast). You should try this stuff at sephora or at a fragrance dealer before buying it though. People's body chemistrys ( amount of perspiration, oil production, foods they eat, etc.) can make perfumes smell differently. Spray it on and seell it after a few hours.

1The perfume is great, but this company is awful!!  Dec 23, 2009
By Peter G
I ordered this perfume on December 17, 2009 through Tuccini, when I learned I couldn't get it directly from Amazon.com. I trusted that sine the vendor was used by Amazon, that I could believe their representations. However, after five days, on December 22, 2009, I received an e-mail from Tuccini informing me that the item was back-ordered. The possibility that the item could be back-ordered was not even mentioned in the ordering information, and in fact, they said they would have it to me by December 24, 2009. When I called their customer care number on the e-mail they sent, I was diverted to a call center who took a message, and I was told I would be called back. I never was. I made several additional e-mail inquiries, but never received a response. Today, December 23, 2009, I received an "Order Cancellation Notice" from Tuccini via e-mail. I called the number in that e-mail and spoke to a gentleman who could not adequately explain why they would take and process an order for an item they did not have in stock, nor could he explain why that determination took five days. Now, I am left to scramble to find another source for this perfume, which I told my wife I was giving her for Christmas, only 1.5 days before Christmas. Their ordering system is flawed, and I will never use them again.

3Confused mixture of products  Dec 03, 2011
By z_bookworm
This vendor is not selling one, but SIX fragrances on this page. They are different enough that liking one doesn't say anything about whether or not you'll like the others.

The main fragrance, (1)Eau Des Merveilles, is citric, salty, ambery, very woody and a little green, and makes a statement. Some feel it's a bit unisex. However the 1 oz. size sold here is (2)Eau Clair des Merveilles, and is a gentle, orange/vanilla powdery scent w/ a touch of woods, aimed at tween girls. The 1.6 oz size is the limited edition (3)"La Tete dans les Etoiles" from 2008 which I haven't smelled, but since they gave it a different name and different (blue) packaging, you can be sure there's a discernible difference in the scent. The ones in the eau de parfum strength are actually a very different fragrance called (5)"Elixir des Merveilles" which reduced some of the notes in the original and added vanilla, caramel, and chocolate for a very gourmand scent. Even the pure perfume, marketed as (6)"extrait" in the original French is a stronger, more formal scent w/ a touch of the signature Hermes leather note.

As the vendor, who brags about their knowledge of perfume on their vendor page, doesn't seem to be able to distinguish one from another, it is tricky to know for sure what you'll wind up with. I don't believe I'd risk the not inconsiderable cost to buy from this page.
